Message from the Program Director

Thank you for your interest in the South College – Nashville Physician Assistant program.  The faculty and staff value your interest and time.  Physician Assistants enjoy a rewarding career serving others.  The Nashville team consists of experienced, board-certified Physician Assistants, a Family Medicine physician, a Pharmacist, Simulation Coordinator, health science educators, and other medical interprofessionals.

Nashville, Tennessee is one of the best cities in the United States – the Nashville Predators, the Tennessee Titans and of course, the home of country music. The program grants a Master of Health Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MHScPAS) degree.  The MHScPAS degree will require the successful completion of a challenging 27-month medical education. The curriculum is composed of 27 didactic year courses and 8 supervised clinical practice experience courses. The South College – Nashville PA Program prepares graduates for success when taking the Physician Assistant National Certification Examination (PANCE) and going into clinical practice.

The Mission of the Masters of Health Science Physician Assistant Studies Program is to educate highly qualified physician assistants, preparing them to become competent, compassionate, and comprehensive health care providers for clinical practice in rural and urban areas who will mature into leaders within the medical community.  Our Physician Assistant program emphasizes early “hands-on” medical education during the didactic professional year.  Students receive regular one-on-one mentoring and guidance in their journey of becoming a Physician Assistant.

The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Provisional status to the South College – Nashville Physician Assistant Program sponsored by South College – Nashville.
Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.
Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.
